Kids’ behavior not impacted by pre-pregnancy weightA new study has found that kids born to overweight mothers might not necessarily suffer from behavioral or intellectual problems. There have been earlier studies that have stated that mothers who are overweight before pregnancy give birth to kids with behavioral issues. Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, ADHD, is one problem these kids might suffer from, according to earlier findings.

Mild learning problems among children were often related to excess pounds on mothers. No consistent correlation between mothers' pre-pregnancy weight and their children's intellectual development or risk of ADHD and other behavioral problems was seen in the new study of about 7,500 British and Dutch children researchers. Heavier mothers tended to have less education and lower incomes than normal-weight moms were the other factors that explained the links.

The researchers report that the findings suggest that fetal development is not affected by mothers' extra pounds in a way that harms children's later cognitive skills or behavior. However, a healthy weight should be maintained by women while going for pregnancy for a plenty of reasons that are directly associated with their health later in life, reports suggest.
