Expecting Mothers Should Have Healthy DietA new survey has found that the baby’s health is poor at the time of birth if the mother consumes poor diet during the months of pregnancy. This report has been quoted in the media on Friday.

According to a study done on rats in the University of Cambridge, it was found that the baby rats are more exposed to diseases if their pregnant mother were not given proper diet.

Further research showed that if the mother is taking poor diet during pregnancy then there might by problems in functioning of the genes. Hnf4s is a gene which is badly affected if malnutrition is taken during the months of pregnancy.

"What is most exciting about these findings is that we are now starting to really understand how nutrition during the first nine months of life spent in the womb shape our long term health by influencing how the cells in our body age", said Susan Ozanne. She is the senior author at Institute of Metabolic Science at the University of Cambridge.

Pregnant mothers are always advised to consume nutritional and balanced diet. It is very useful for the proper growth of the baby. Mother’s diet has strong effect on the genes of the growing baby.
